Sri Lankan Hot Actress

Sri Lankan Hot Actress Biography
Earlier there was much expectation in Sri Lanka that Sarala would make history when she attended the Oscars, but she hasn’t received an invitation, the Sri Lanka Reporter has learned.

Both the movie’s publicist and Sarala ’s family confirmed she will not be attending the ceremony on Sunday. Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta will be joined by at least three other actors at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, according to the publicist.

The movie set in 1938 India shows the discrimination of widows, a subject so controversial it ignited fierce protests forcing Mehta to abandon shooting in India. After five years the set was moved to Sri Lanka, where local artists contributed towards the completion of the movie.

Sarala plays the key role of a young widow throughout the first film for the young actress handpicked by Deepa Mehta, and without any prior knowledge of Hindi or English she pulled off the role in six-months.

She earlier won numerous island-wide dancing competitions and Sri Lankan media widely expected her to attend the Oscars.

“The Sri Lankan born child actress Jayani Sarala Kariyawasam will rewrite the film history of Sri Lanka when she appears at this year's Oscar representing Academy Award nominated ‘Water’ directed by Indian born Canadian director Deepa Mehta,” read the Colombo-based Sunday Times.

In 1957, The Bridge on the River Kwai, filmed almost entirely in Sri Lanka, won seven Oscars including Best Picture.
